Lakers take on Metcalfe County in district tournament tonight

16th District Tournament action continues tonight at Russell County High School, with the Lakers taking on the Metcalfe County Hornets with a spot in Friday’s district championship along with a spot in the 4th Region Tournament on the line.

The Hornets defeated the Monroe County Falcons on a buzzer beater Sunday evening to advance and take on the Lakers.

The two teams split the regular season series, with each team winning on the other’s home court.

In the first matchup at Metcalfe County, the Lakers won 82-55. When the Hornets came to Russell County on January 30, Metcalfe County came away with a 79-78 win.

The Lakers and Hornets will be the first matchup of the night, getting underway at 6 p.m.

The Clinton County Bulldogs and Cumberland County Panthers will face off in the second game.
