Last week on local news, we reported the arrest of a major drug bust in Casey County, where federal, state, and local law enforcement seized more than 50 pounds of drugs, a handgun, and $100,000 in cash.
According to reports, 73-year-old Roger Mullins who was arrested in the case, was planning to flee to Mexico at around the time he was arrested.
According to the arrest citation, Mullins buried the cash, but dug it up three days before being arrested as he prepared to flee the United States.
Police believe a lot of the drugs involved were being sold across the region, including in Russell and surrounding counties.
Mullins remains in jail on a $500,000 bond. Federal indictments are also expected in the case.
