Bill would create alert for missing adults

A bill presented in the Kentucky Legislature would create an alert system for adults who have gone missing, similar to how Amber Alerts work for missing children.

Senate Bill 45 has been presented with the intention of establishing the Ashanti Alert system, which would notify the public when an adult is missing and may have been abducted or kidnapped or maybe in physical danger.

More than half of the states in the U.S. have a system like this in place.

According to the bill sponsor, state police would work with law enforcement to establish that the missing person was taken forcefully and that they are in imminent danger if not found quickly. These guidelines will help to avoid the alerts from being overused.
