More than 40 dogs saved from ‘deplorable conditions’ in Casey County

More than 40 dogs were rescued from what is being described as deplorable conditions in neighboring Casey County.

The nonprofit Animal Rescue Corps was called in for what is being referred to as Operation Frozen Sorrows in which 44 dogs were rescued from a property in Casey County.

Law enforcement called the nonprofit to assist where these dogs were living inside and outside a partially burnt house, according to the nonprofit and inside the home, high ammonia levels were detected and required special safety equipment to enter safely.

As a result of the search, three dogs were deceased, two were frozen solid due to recent extreme temperatures, and several signs of prior neglect including injuries to the animal’s external extremities.

The surviving dogs were transported to a rescue center in Tennessee.
