Somerset man accused of murder appears in court

A Somerset man accused of murdering his father and grandfather, and injuring his grandmother about three weeks ago, was in court yesterday for an extradition hearing.

Austin Prather waived his right to extradition during yesterday’s court appearance in Evansville, Indiana.

There has not been any word yet on when he will be moved to a jail in Kentucky. Prather is currently lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville.

He is scheduled to appear again in court later this month.

Austin is accused of murdering his grandfather, Ardyth Ray Prater and his father, Trae Prather  He is also accused of attempting to murder his grandmother, Joann Prather.

The crimes occurred in Science Hill, but Prather was later located and arrested in Evansville.
