Sheriff’s Office receives another clean audit

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office recently received another clean audit from the state auditor’s office.

Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts Mike Harmon’s office recently announced that the Russell County Sheriff’s Office received what is known as a clean audit, meaning there are no instances of noncompliance and the financial statements are fairly presented.

The auditor’s office also noted there were no matters of internal control over financial reporting that would be considered material weaknesses.

Sheriff’s Offices are audited twice a year, once for the tax account and the other for the fee account used to operate the office.

This audit was for the fee account, and the sheriff’s office received a clean audit for the tax account back in the spring.
