A Science Hill man was formally indicted on murder charges by a grand jury yesterday.

Austin Ray Prather, age 20, was indicted on two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of first-degree robbery, and tampering with physical evidence.

Austin is accused of murdering his grandfather, 67-year-old Ardyth Ray Prather, and his father, 43-year-old Ardith Trae Prather, last month.

Austin is also accused of attempting to murder 65-year-old Joann Prather.

Prather remains lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville, Indiana, where he has been since he was arrested on November 8 in connection with the shooting deaths that took place the day before.

Prather has waived formal extradition. He is scheduled for a court hearing in Evansville on Dec. 21.
