Number of registered voters in Russell County has decreased this year

The number of registered voters in Russell County has decreased noticeably since the beginning of the year.

According to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office, Russell County had 14,508 registered voters in January. The Secretary of State’s report for the month of August shows Russell County with 14,134 voters.

In regard to political parties, during that time span, there was a 5.8 percent decrease in registered democrat voters and a 2.2 percent decrease in republican voters, while there was a 3.85 percent increase in independent voters.

While the decrease from the beginning of the year is notable, Russell County has had increases in voter registration during the months of July and August compared to June.
