Wanda Lawless, age 87, of Jamestown

Wanda Lawless, of Jamestown, passed from this life Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, at Glen Ridge Health Campus in Louisville, KY. She was 87 years of age.

Born in Creelsboro on May 10th, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence R. Coffey and Lorayne Mann Coffey. Wanda was employed for many years at Russell Sportswear and Fruit of the Loom. After retirement, she pursued her love of farming, operating a dairy farm with her husband, RJ, for over 25 years. In 2009, she was presented the Women in Agriculture Award by the Russell County Conservation District for her contributions to the local agricultural community. Later in life, she provided caregiving services for many families in Russell County.

While her professional accomplishments were many, her most treasured roles were wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to the love of her life, RJ Lawless, for sixty years until his death in 2009. She was a loving mother to her four sons and her granddaughter, Tiffany, whom she raised as her own child.

To know Wanda was to love her. She was known for her deep concern for those around her, strong work ethic, and radiant smile. She was an incredible cook, and her family looked forward to her delicious holiday spreads all year. She was a faithful member of Jamestown Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, RJ, and her youngest son, Michael, as well as her sister, Gwendolyn Glover, and brother, Edwin Coffey. Left to treasure her memory are her sons, Rodney Lawless (Kim) of Arizona, Ricky Lawless, and Ronnie Lawless, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Chris Lawless, Andrea Wilson, Renee Lawless, and Tiffany Bingham (Sean); five great-grandchildren, Hannah Wilson, John Grant Wilson, Leslie Turner, Chase Lawless, and Parker Bingham; one great-great granddaughter, Maya Wilson; and one soon-to-be-born great-granddaughter, Savannah Bingham.

The family is especially grateful to Just Family, Glen Ridge Health Campus, and Hosparus Health for the exceptional care provided during Wanda’s last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Jamestown Christian Church or Hosparus Health.
