Three Casey County inmates were seriously hurt Tuesday morning after they were attacked by a dog at an animal shelter they were at while on work release.
According to Liberty Police, the three female inmates received serious injuries to their arms and legs from being bitten and were taken to the hospital, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The dog previously had not been aggressive, according to reports, but the dog was aggressive when police showed up and was ultimately put down.
