Teresa Stephens Murray, age 61, of Russell Springs

Teresa Faye Stephens Murray, of Russell Springs, passed from this life Friday, August 4, 2023, at her home.  She was 61 years of age.

Teresa was born August 25, 1961, in Richmond, the only child of Arvester and Rosa “Rosie” Foster Stephens.  She was one of the first employees hired to Russell County Hospital in July of 1981, where she would eventually become a licensed respiratory therapist.  Teresa married Charles Murray on February 11, 1989 at the Lake Cumberland State Park.  She was a member of the West 80 Church of God.

She could do just about anything she set her mind to; from sewing to digital technology.  Teresa loved traveling, especially to the beach.  She enjoyed kayaking and riding the Polaris around.  Teresa was always the strong one, always wanting to help and guide.  Four years ago, she established the “Hope for the Homeless” campaign in Russell County, a resource gatherer of shelter, clothing and food for those in need, as well as providing sobriety help to addicts.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; her mother, Rosie Stephens, of Russell Springs; her daughters, Brenna (and Charlie) Mullennex, of Louisville, and Amy Murray, of Russell Springs; her grandchildren, Whitley Stephens, Shaylen Hatcher, Emma Anderson, Jeremiah Bottoms and “Little Charlie”, whose arrival is anticipated any day; and a special cousin, Tonia Aaron.

Teresa is preceded in death by her father, Arvester Stephens; and twin grandsons, Austin and Brendan Hatcher.

Funeral Services are 11:00 a.m., CST, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Bernard Ridge Church of God, with Bro. Scott Proctor and Bro. Carlie Riggs officiating.  Interment will follow in Bernard Ridge Cemetery.
