Wayne County Schools has a new superintendent.
The Wayne County Board of Education met in special session Thursday evening and voted 3-2 to name Donnie Neal the district’s new superintendent.
Neal served the district for many years including as teacher, principal, and director of transportation, according to Z93 News in Monticello.
The vote to select Neal came after a motion to name current Assistant Superintendent Brian Dishman as superintendent failed with two members voting in favor and three voting against.
The decision caused quite a bit of controversy among the crowd in attendance as security officers cleared the room following the meeting.
