Russell County saw increase in arrests last year

More arrests were made in Russell County in 2022 than the year prior, according to new data released by Kentucky State Police.

By law, Kentucky State Police is required to submit an annual report each year in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies that provides a comprehensive look at arrests and crimes that were committed in the state.

The data shows 1,797 arrests were made in Russell County last year, which is a slight increase from 1,741 in 2021.

In 2022, Russell County had 47 more assault arrests while there was a decrease in drug and narcotics arrest by 134 from the year prior. However, there was an increase of 179 arrests for “other offenses” or crimes not labeled in the KSP report.
