Russell County ranks among the highest in the state for precipitation received over the last five years.
According to data from the National Centers for Environmental Information , Russell County has received the second-most precipitation over the last five years among Kentucky’s 120 counties.
During that span, Russell County received a five-year precipitation average of 63.7 inches, only behind Clinton County which ranked top in the state at 64.7 inches per year.
The south central Kentucky area had several counties rank high on the list.
Wayne County, McCreary, Pulaski, Cumberland, Monroe, and Casey all ranked in the top 20.
