The Adair County Fiscal Court approved a half-percent payroll tax at a meeting earlier this week.
The issue of a payroll tax has been a contentious issue in the neighboring county for a while now.
The first year of the tax will be at a half-percent, with the tax dropping to a quarter-percent the second year.
The magistrates voted in favor of the proposal, while Adair County Judge Executive Larry Bryant voted against it.
