A woman was arrested in neighboring Wayne County after an Amber Alert was issued for her 7-month old baby and a police standoff that reportedly lasted several hours.
Many woke up to an Amber Alert on their cell phones after midnight Saturday in relation to a 7-month-old baby that was in the custody of its mother, but was considered dangerous because of the mother’s history with drug use.
According to law enforcement in Wayne County, the baby was located at the mother’s home in a backroom after a standoff with officers that lasted several hours.
The child was placed in the custody of DCBS and 39-year-old Shelley Lair was charged with kidnapping, wanton endangerment first degree, terroristic threatening, and resisting arrest.
She was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
