Monticello man indicted for driving through school gate

According to Z93 Radio in Monticello, a man in neighboring Wayne County was indicted by a grand jury this week on charges of criminal mischief 1st degree, no operator’s license, reckless driving, disorderly conduct 1st degree, criminal trespassing 2nd degree, and leaving the scene of an accident-failure to render aid after being arrested for driving his car through a security gate at an elementary school earlier this year.

The incident happened at Monticello Elementary School, which was placed on a soft lockdown until police could get there to investigate.

Using camera footage and cell phone pings, officers eventually located the suspect, Kyle Hicks, 25, of Monticello, at a home on Morris Hill Road in Wayne County and arrested him.

On Thursday, Hicks was served with a Wayne County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest while he was still being lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
