Russell County’s comeback falls short in region semifinals

The Russell County Laker Baseball team fell down 6-0 against the Bowling Green Purples in the region semifinals last night, and nearly rallied to win, but fell short, losing 7-6.

The Lakers rallied late, cutting the lead to one and had the winning run on second base in the final inning, but couldn’t finish off the comeback against the Purples.

Aidan Antle led Russell County with 3 hits, while Trace Stringer, Mayes Gosser, and Carter Stapp each had a pair of hits. Owen Loy drove in a pair of runs for the Lakers.

The loss marks the end of the season for the Lakers, finishing with a final record of 24-10 while once again claiming a 16th District championship.
