The Russell County Lady Lakers put forth a valiant effort in 16th District Softball tournament action against Clinton County last night, but the Lady Bulldogs won in walk-off fashion over the Lady Lakers by a score of 2-1.
The loss puts an end to the season for the Lady Lakers, with a final record of 9-19.
Jadyn Mann drove in the lone run for the Lady Lakers to give Russell County a 1-0 edge in the fourth inning, but Clinton County tied it in the sixth and a hit by Clinton County’s Bailey Polston drove in the winning run in the 7th inning to give the Lady Bulldogs the win and a spot in the district championship.
Cumberland County and Clinton County face off in the softball district championship tonight.
