Local 911 dispatcher passes away

A Russell County E-911 dispatcher passed away over the weekend.

Valerie Baker passed away Sunday morning at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after a medical incident Thursday night.

Baker worked as a dispatcher in Russell County for several years, as well as formerly working as a deputy jailer, and a nearly mile-long line of first responders gathered yesterday afternoon to escort her body back from Somerset.

Funeral arrangements are pending at H.E. Pruitt Memorial Chapel, but will be announced when made available.

A fund has been set up at Monticello Banking Company to benefit Baker’s daughter. People can donate in person at any Monticello Bank location by asking funds to be placed in the account to benefit Valerie Baker. The fund has been set up by the graduating class of 2002. For any questions, contact Travis Miller at 270-566-0787.
