Mary Jo was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church, where she led Wednesday night children’s services.  She loved her church family and cherished the “after Sunday Night service business meetings” held every Sunday night.  Mary Jo loved to garden and enjoyed cooking and sewing.  She put her many talents to use when she and Lowell would work together, building churches with the Carpenters for Christ.  Mary Jo was a Christian lady who loved every one she met.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Lowell; their son, Mark Hopper, of Salem; their daughter, Becky Hopper, of Salem; her brothers, Larry (and Lillian) Whittle, of Russell Springs, Estes (and Donna) Whittle, of Stanford, and Frankie (and Rose) Whittle, of Covington; her sisters, Nellie (and David) Gaskin, of Russell Springs, and Donna Sue Goodin, of Knifley; and her sister-in-law, Neat Whittle, of Gallatin, Tennessee.

Along with her parents, Mary Jo is preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Whittle.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, until time for services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International for Bible placement.
