Lakers, Lady Lakers fall on the road at Metcalfe County

The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers were defeated on the road in a district doubleheader at Metcalfe County last night.

The girls game went down to the wire, but Metcalfe County sophomore Kassady London hit a three-pointer as time expired to give the Lady Hornets the 55-52 win.

The Lady Lakers shot the ball well, shooting 51.2 percent from the floor and knocking down 6/12 three-pointers.

Aniyah Coffey led the Lady Lakers with 13 points and Addison Hart added 12. Addy Abrell finished with 7 points in the game.

The Lady Lakers fall to 5-18 on the season with the loss with an 0-7 mark in district play.

In the nightcap, the Lakers fell to the Hornets by a score of 78-58.

Owen Loy led the Lakers with a big night scoring, finishing with 30 points. Trace Stringer added 10 and Dylan Stanelle finished the night with 8.

The Lakers drop to 8-15 on the season with a 2-5 mark in district play following the loss.

The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be back in action this Friday as they go on the road for another district doubleheader, this time at Monroe County High School.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. with pregame coverage on Laker Country 104.9 beginning at 5:45 p.m.
