Russell Springs man arrested on meth, other charges in Columbia

A Russell Springs man was arrested in Columbia on Sunday afternoon on meth and other charges following an incident in the Walmart parking lot, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Law enforcement initially responded to a suspicious person call at Walmart on Burkesville St.

Upon arrival, law enforcement called the male, 32-year-old Anthony Cook, by name and Cook subsequently fled on foot through the parking lot, police said.

The suspect was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and had drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine in his possession.

Cook was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and evading 1st degree, and trafficking in a controlled substance methamphetamine. Cook also had four outstanding warrants. He was lodged in the Adair Regional Jail.

CPD Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting officer. He was assisted by Officer Joey Keith and Sgt. Drew Conn.
