Russell County continues to have highest unemployment rate in region

Russell County’s latest unemployment rate comes in at five percent, continuing to be the highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland district.

The unemployment rate in Russell County did decrease 0.4 percent from November to December last year, according to newly released data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

Wayne County and McCreary County were each at 4.5 percent, Adair County and Clinton County were each at 4.1 percent, Pulaski at 4 percent, Casey County at 3.1 percent, Green at 3.1 percent, and Taylor and Cumberland counties each at 2.9 percent, which were among the lower unemployment rates in the state.

The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland district was 3.8 percent.
