Lakers fall to Marion County in 2A tournament

The Russell County Lakers fell to the Marion County Knights in overtime in a Kentucky 2A, Section 4 tournament matchup Thursday night.

The Knights came out on top 66-65 in overtime by knocking down a free throw with 0.5 seconds on the clock.

Trace Stringer led Russell County with 16 points, followed by Owen Loy with 11, and Mayes Gosser and Braydon Cerrato with 10 points each.

Max Davis and Dylan Stanelle finished with 6 points each, while Maddox Shearer tallied 3 points and Logan Walters finished with 2.

It was the Knights first win on the season, as they came into the matchup 0-12.

With the loss, the Lakers drop to 6-8 on the season.

The Lakers are scheduled to host Hart County on Saturday at 3 p.m.
