The Russell County Lady Lakers defeated Marion County in the opening round, but fell to Taylor County in the Kentucky 2A Section 4 championship.
On Friday, the Lady Lakers defeated Marion County 73-42.
Rachel Bolin led Russell County with 15 points, followed by Addy Abrell with 13 and Maleah Preston with 11.
Preston led the Lady Lakers with 12 rebounds, followed by Bolin with 10, and Hannah Yates with 7.
That win advanced the Lady Lakers to Saturday’s Section 4 championship, where they fell to one of the top teams in the 5th Region, the Taylor County Lady Cardinals, by a score of 44-25.
Maleah Preston scored a team-high 9 points and pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds.
Aniyah Coffey scored 5, and Jaterria Coffey, Rachel Bolin, and Addison Hart each scored 3, while Karley Luttrell rounded out the scoring with 2.
Abrell, Bolin, and Preston were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Lakers are back in action tonight as they go on the road for a matchup with Wayne County, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m. CT.
