Russell County with 22 new COVID cases this week

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 22 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, a decrease from last week’s total of 27. The numbers were delayed this week due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday.

Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, Pulaski County had the most with 41 cases, Adair County had 35, Taylor County had 22 cases, Green County reported 18 cases, Wayne County had 16 cases, Casey, Cumberland, and McCreary counties reported 10 cases each, and Clinton County reported nine cases.

The state also reported six individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19. One patient was reported as being in an intensive care unit and on a ventilator.

The statewide positivity rate has now decreased to 10.37 percent.
