WJRS Food for the Needy gift card delivery pushed up due to weather forecast

The delivery of the WJRS Food for the Needy Drive gift cards, originally, scheduled for Friday, December 23, will now take place on Thursday, December 22, due to the forecast of bitterly cold temperatures and possible winter weather for Friday, according to Kem Bell, the food drive’s longtime coordinator.

That means volunteers with the 50th annual food drive, a Russell County Christmastime tradition, will disperse across the county Thursday morning to deliver Price Less Foods gift cards to around 200 less fortunate families this holiday season.

Thursday at 11 a.m., volunteers will meet at the Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency warehouse in Jamestown for final instructions and prayer led by Bro. Rick Neff before beginning delivery of the gift cards to those families who have been submitted to the radio station as food drive recipients.
