Russell County reports 28 new COVID cases this week

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 28 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, an increase from last week’s total of 22.

Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, neighboring Adair County had the most with 33 cases, Taylor County had 29, Pulaski County recorded 28 cases, Casey County and Wayne County each reported 24 cases, McCreary County had 16, Green County reported 12 cases, Clinton County had six cases, and Cumberland County reported four cases.

The state also reported six individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19 with one of those being treated in intensive care unit and on a ventilator.

The statewide positivity rate has now increased to 9.85 percent.
