Last year, the Russell County Fiscal Court, the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Jamestown, and the Russell County Board of Education approved a four-member agreement that would place a school resource officer at Jamestown Elementary.
That agreement turned into the hiring of retired officer Jamie Rogers being placed at the school, and the results have been a success according to the entities involved, to the point that the agreement has been renewed.
Each of the entities agreed to split the cost with the agreement continuing without the need for renewal each year, although the new contract provides a 60-day window for an entity to drop out of the agreement, if they so choose.
