Russell County still in ‘moderate drought’

Russell County and the Lake Cumberland area remains in a “moderate drought,” according to the most recent data from the U.S. Drought Index.

A large swath of severe drought shows up in far western Kentucky reaching up through the Bluegrass region in central Kentucky with a portion of the eastern part of the state still seeing “abnormally dry” conditions.

A weather system late Tuesday night into Wednesday could put a dent in the drought in our area.
