Arrest made in Columbia following anonymous tip

An anonymous tip received Tuesday by the Columbia Police Department in neighboring Adair County led to the arrest of an Ohio man, according to law enforcement.

The tip was that an individual or individuals may travel through the area and attempt to pass and fill forged prescriptions for controlled substances.

While checking a local pharmacy, officers made contact with a male subject who attempted to flee after contact was made. The male was apprehended by the Columbia Police Department after a brief foot pursuit, and was taken into custody without further incident.

Joshua Winston, age 24, of Franklin, Ohio, was charged with fleeing and evading on foot 2nd degree as well as forgery of a prescription 1st offense; a class D felony.

Sgt. Evan Burton was the arresting officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Trevor Foster.
