Adair County man arrested for allegedly setting fire at local business

A Columbia man was arrested yesterday evening after he allegedly set a fire at a local business in Columbia.

According to Columbia Police, an investigation began after surveillance footage captured a man setting a fire at Save-A-Lot Tuesday night. That investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for 26-year-old Zachery C. Ballou.

Ballou was apprehended on the public square in Columbia Wednesday afternoon by Columbia Police officers and charged with arson third degree and criminal mischief third degree. Police also charged Ballou with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ballou was arrested by Officer Trevor Foster. He was assisted on scene by Sgt. Evan Burton and Police Chief Jr. Murphy.
