Substance in Pulaski County trunk-or-treat candy turns out to be antihistamine

Concerns about fentanyl, heroin, or other illicit drugs being in candy passed out at a Pulaski County trunk-or-treat event last week were eased when the substance turned out to be an antihistamine, according to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab.

Concerns began after the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media that a substance was found in candy passed out at a trunk-or-treat event.

After testing at the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab, the pill was determined to be Meclizine, an antihistamine used to treat motion sickness.

The sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation into how the medication was mixed with the candy, but as of now, it’s believed to be accidental.
