
For the last five years, Russell County Volleyball has fallen in the 16th District championship to Clinton County.
Last night, the Lady Lakers came out on top over the Lady Bulldogs, winning 3-2 to claim the program’s first district championship since 2016.
The Lady Lakers took the first set 25-23 before narrowly falling 25-21 in the second and 28-26 in the third set.
But the Lady Lakers bounced back with a decisive 25-16 win in the fourth set and in the final set, the Lady Lakers capped the night with a 15-11 win.
Seniors Rachel Webb and Kenzie Kelsey were named to the All-District team, along with junior Briley Murray.
