Lakers shut out on the road at Barren County

In the first road game of the season, the Russell County Lakers struggled from the start and were defeated by the Barren County Trojans 41-0.

Russell County falls to 1-2 on the season with the loss.

The Lakers struggled in all three aspects of the game. After going three and out on the opening possession, the Trojans blocked the punt and took advantage of the short field, scoring first in the game.

From there, the Lakers fumbled the ball near midfield, and the Trojans were able to capitalize on the turnover with another touchdown and end the first quarter with a 14-0 lead.

Barren County utilized the run game in the second quarter to score again and lead 21-0 going into halftime.

The Lakers couldn’t get much going in the second half, and the Trojans would score three times in the second half, with the last score coming off a scoop-and-score from a Russell County fumble, extending the lead to 41-0 which set the running clock rule in motion with about 4 minutes left in the game.

The Lakers return home this Friday for a Homecoming Game matchup with Casey County, who is coming off back-to-back wins including a 44-12 win over LaRue County Friday night.
