In big district road games, the Russell County Laker and Lady Laker Soccer teams came away with victories over Monroe County Tuesday night.
In the first match, the Lady Lakers came away with a 2-1 win in double-overtime. Adriana Thomas scored during regulation, and then Maddison Weisbrodt’s score in the second overtime gave the Lady Lakers the victory and a regular season sweep over their district rival.
The Lady Lakers will host Southwestern tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
In the nightcap, the Lakers came away with an 8-0 win over the Falcons, also securing a regular season sweep.
Several Lakers got in on the scoring action. Dawson Bradshaw finished with three goals on the night, Geison Maradiaga and Cayden George each scored a pair of goals, and Ernesto Zapata added a goal.
Chance Betts-Jimenez and Elijah Grayum each finished with a pair of assists, and Bradshaw, Alex Maradiaga, and Mynor Chic-Radilla each finished with an assist as well.
The Lakers will be back at home next Tuesday for a matchup with Taylor County.
