Local gas prices continue to soar, following a state and national trend.
AAA showed the average price of gasoline in Russell County to be $4.32 on Wednesday, but most gas stations in the county were selling at $4.49 or a few at $4.59 as of Wednesday afternoon after prices jumping as much as 30 cents Tuesday afternoon.
According to AAA, the average price of gasoline statewide sat at $4.42, and nationwide it was $4.67.
Across the state, average prices were as high as $4.77 in Jefferson County and as low as $4.10 in Marion County.
