Jo Ann Polston, age 77, of Russell Springs

Jo Ann Polston, of Russell Springs, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Medical Center, of Bowling Green.  She was 77 years of age.

Jo Ann was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on June 26, 1944, daughter of the late William C. “Dutch” and Odessa Jane Tucker Daniel.  She married Wendell G. Polston on May 2, 1962.  Jo Ann and Wendell worked their family farm together.  She canned the fruits of their labors, hundreds of cans at a time.  Jo Ann loved to go out fishing on the pontoon with Wendell.  They enjoyed 51 years together.

She was saved at Ono Community Church and baptized by the late Bro. Dewey Cooper.   Jo Ann loved to crochet, quilt and make ceramics.  She was a nurturing mother and grandmother; her life revolved around her kids and grandkids.  They fondly recall her singing and dancing while doing dishes or working around the house.  She always had her door open to anyone who needed a helping hand.  Jo Ann gladly supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas Polston and Scott Polston, both of Russell Springs; her daughter, Lisa (and Mark) Blakeman, of Russell Springs; her sisters, Katie Gadberry, of Russell Springs, and Brenda Sue Daniel, of Columbia; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, who passed away August 14, 2013; her son, Gregory Alan Polston; her brother, J.C. Daniel; her sister, Marie Cooper; and her grandson, Waylon Polston.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Bernard Funeral home, with Bro. Kelly Burton, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Square Oak Cemetery.  Jo Ann’s grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, until time for services.
