23 new COVID cases reported in Russell County

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 23 new COVID cases in Russell County last week as more than 9,500 cases were reported statewide.

Looking at neighboring counties, Pulaski County had 53 new cases, Adair had 39, Wayne had 15. Casey had 7, Clinton had 6, and Cumberland County had 4.

Russell County’s incidence rate remains fairly low, sitting at the 33rd lowest rate at 18.3 cases per 100,000 population.

On the state COVID map, Taylor County was charted as yellow. Taylor County, which reported 73 new cases last week, is the only county in the Lake Cumberland District that isn’t green. Yellow indicates a medium level of community spread.
