Lakers take down Metcalfe to advance to district championship

The Laker Baseball team jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, as the Lakers easily defeated Metcalfe County 12-0 in five innings last night to advance to the 16th District Championship.

Trace Stringer, Nathan Lawson, Mayes Gosser, and Maxon Gosser each drove in a pair of runs with Lawson hitting a solo home run to pace the Laker offense.

On the mound, Cody Luttrell once again put together a strong performance, giving up just one hit and no runs in 4 innings of work, striking out 8 batters.

Nick Aaron entered in relief, pitching the final inning and striking out 4 batters.

The Lakers will play in the 16th District Championship at Laker Field at 6 p.m. tonight against Clinton County, who defeated Cumberland County 11-0 last night.
