Reynolds’ big day leads Lady Lakers to a pair of Saturday wins

The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team picked up two wins over the weekend in rematches from the beginning of the season.

The Lady Lakers first picked up a win against Taylor County, their second win over the Lady Cardinals this season, with a 6-4 victory on Saturday.

Taylor County jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but the Lady Lakers were able to come back and get the win.

At the plate, Emma Popplewell finished with a team-high three hits and one RBI, while Jadyn Mann finished with a team-high 2 RBI. Tarryn Reynolds and Mady Hatchett each also drove in a run for the Lady Lakers.

Reynolds got the win in the pitchers circle, giving up four runs on 11 hits and striking out a pair of batters.

In Russell County’s second game of the day on Saturday, the Lady Lakers avenged an early season defeat by knocking off Southwestern by a score of 7-2.

It was a big game for Tarryn Reynolds, who drove in four runs including a home run and also picked up the win in the pitchers circle.

Reynolds only gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out seven batters to get the win.

Mann, Hatchett, and Addie Davis each drove in a run for the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers are off today, but go on the road tomorrow for a district matchup with Cumberland County.
