According to the AAA gas price tracker, the average price of gas in Russell County has dropped 3 cents over the past week, now sitting at $3.88 compared to $3.91 a week ago.
As of Thursday evening, some stations were selling at prices as low as $3.79.
The average price of gas in neighboring Clinton County is at $3.99 and $3.94 in neighboring Cumberland, Pulaski and Wayne counties.
Russell County is about on par with neighboring Adair and Casey County.
The highest average gas price is in Jefferson County at $4.17 and the lowest is Taylor County at $3.79.
