$6.6 million athletic facility upgrade a possibility for RC Schools

Many Russell County student-athletes and extracurricular participants could soon be impacted by a decision made by the Russell County Board of Education.

On Wednesday, the Russell County Board of Education held a special-called meeting to discuss potential athletic facility upgrade options on the high school’s campus following recent measures taken by the General Assembly in Frankfort. The school district has been exploring the idea of building a new middle school in recent months.

The next step regarding the athletic facility upgrades is board action on one of the two options discussed Wednesday, which could take place at the board of education’s regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, April 18th at 5 p.m. at the Russell County Schools ANC.

In the only other item of business, the school board also entered into a memorandum of understanding with Second Mile Behavioral Health, LLC. to begin providing counseling services to students, as needed.
