Lady Laker Softball drops game to Southwestern on Saturday

The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team dropped Saturday’s game against Southwestern by a score of 8-3.

The Lady Lakers fell behind 4-1 early and couldn’t rally to get the win.

The Lakers finished with just three hits on the day, with Sophie Shearer, Emma Popplewell, and Payton Kinnett each recording a hit and Popplewell and Kinnett each drove in a run.

Tarryn Reynolds pitched seven innings and giving up nine hits while walking five. Although Southwestern scored 8 runs, only 2 counted as earned due to 6 Russell County errors on the day.

The Lady Lakers look to get back on track when they travel to Marion County tonight for a matchup with the Lady Knights beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
