If House Bill 102 passes, Kentucky school districts would be required to establish a policy and develop procedures for a moment of silence or reflection in the first class of each day in all public schools for students to pray, meditate, or reflect.
This time would be required to be 1-2 minutes in duration.
The legislation was approved by the House Education Committee with a 16-4 vote and is headed to the full House of Representatives.
Teachers or other school personnel would not be allowed to provide instruction on the nature of any reflection and requires notification of parents about the policy and to encourages parents to talk to their children about it.
