Spring fire season begins today; no burning between 6 am and 6 pm

Spring fire season begins today and runs through April 30th, according to the Kentucky Division of Forestry.

State officials say the Commonwealth has been affected by multiple ice, snow, and severe weather events that have created large amounts of downed trees and woody debris in Kentucky’s forests.

There is to be no burning except between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. or when the ground is covered with snow.

There should also be no burning within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland and officials ask that everyone abide by the burn restrictions and consider current weather conditions when burning.
