Sheriff’s Office provides monthly report

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office provided its monthly report for January at Monday night’s fiscal court meeting.

The sheriff’s office responded to 354 calls for service, including 8 domestic calls, 40 lockouts, 16 suspicious person complaints, 17 welfare checks and 11 theft complaints.

The office also performed 28 arrests, 16 mental health transports, 74 court papers received and 33 civil papers served, 13 criminal summons served, and 52 vehicle inspections. The sheriff’s office also drove 1,373 court security transport miles.

Sheriff Derek Polston also reminded Russell County residents that Feb 1 – April 15 is the 21 percent penalty phase for property tax payments.
