Ruthie Pearl Brown, age 81, of Russell Springs

Ruthie Pearl Brown, of Russell Springs, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the home of her daughter.  She was 81 years of age.

Ruthie was born at home in Russell Springs, on January 3, 1941, daughter of the late John and Ruby Huckaby Redmon.  She worked many years as a seamstress for Russell Sportswear and Fruit of the Loom.  Ruthie loved her time working as a Nurse’s Aide at Russell County Hospital and kept in touch with many she had met in her time there.  Ruthie was a great hostess.  If you came to her home, she would always have food to offer.  She loved cooking and baking, gardening and canning.  Ruthie loved making quilt tops and working with her flowers.  Ruthie and her husband, William, were members of New Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby (and Andra) Brown and Billy Gene Brown, both of Russell Springs; her daughter, Rhonda Blankenship, of Jamestown; her brothers, Alvin (and Cathy) Redmon and Kennith Redmon, both of Russell Springs; her sisters, Carolyn (and Jr.) Grider, of Russell Springs, and Sharon (and Ronnie) Tiller of Columbia; her grandchildren, Sarah (and Trent) Stapp, Brad (and Lyndsey) Brown, both of Russell Springs, Brian (and Carey) Brown, of Jamestown, Timothy Lee Brown (and Tosha Grider), Charlie Gaskins, both of Russell Springs, and Latosha (and Jaryd) Miller, of Louisville; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Carter, Brodey, Adelynn, Calley, Caleb, Asher, Carly, Lexi, Bray and K.J.; and her sister-in-law and special friend, Edna Mae Wells, of New Albany, Indiana.

Along with her parents, Ruthie is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Brown, who passed away on August 14, 2020; and her brother, Jimmy Redmon.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Paul Roy and Bro. Andy Robertson officiating.  Interment will be in New Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at Bernard Funeral Home.
