The theft or vandalization of road signs in Russell County is becoming an issue and county leaders are taking additional steps to curb the issue.
During Monday night’s fiscal court meeting, magistrates expressed concern about road signs being stolen or knocked over.
As a response, the county voted to purchase cameras that will be placed at various locations, especially where multiple incidents of theft or vandalism have taken place.
The theft or vandalism of road signs is a violation of law and County Attorney Kevin Shearer said those who are caught stealing signs or knocking them over will face criminal charges.
